Lindgren Farms of Norquay, Saskatchewan has been crowned this year’s Hudye Soil Services 2014 “Commodity King Challenge” winner. Jordan and Jennifer Lindgren of Lindgren Farms topped this year’s challenge by pricing their Commodity King Challenge Canola at $445.00 m/t or $10.09 per bushel on their farm in North East Saskatchewan, Canada.
The Commodity King Challenge emphasizes the importance of not only Maximizing Production, but also Maximizing What You Get Paid for that Production. The ten producers who participated in the 2014 Canola King (the related production challenge) were to price their canola from the challenge at any point up until December 18th, 2014 at a $0 basis to the January ICE canola futures. With a recorded Canola King yield of 61.93 bushels per acre and a realized price of $10.09 per bushel, Lindgren Farms achieved an outstanding $624.87 per acre Gross Revenue in the challenge, reported Parker Summers, General Manager of Hudye Soil Services.
This year proved to be a tough marketing year and was an extremely close contest with five of the ten producers pricing within $4.30 m/t or less than 10 cents per bushel! Knowing the importance of the markets, cycles and fundamentals allowed these “Top Shelf” producers to pull the trigger when it counted, reported Braden Hudye, President of Hudye Soil Services Inc.
The Commodity King Challenge winner is awarded a $5,000.00 travel voucher to a destination of their choice.
